HNT20 Pt100 Temperature Transmitter with DIN 43650 Connector

Pt100 temperature transmitter with DIN 43650 valve connector, -200 to 500°C wide range, 4-20mA or 0-5V output, all stainless steel IP65, for water supply, hydraulic, pneumatic, cooling, heating and HVAC systems.

HNT20 Pt100 Temperature Transmitter with DIN 43650 Connector (–200…500 °C)

The HNT20 is a compact all-stainless Pt100 temperature transmitter built around a DIN 43650 (ISO 4400) industrial valve connector. A Pt100 probe senses temperature through the platinum resistance effect, and the onboard circuit converts the resistance into a linear 4–20 mA or 0–5 V analog output. The wide –200…500 °C range and gas/liquid dual-use design make it a practical choice for water supply, hydraulic and pneumatic circuits, cooling and heating systems, HVAC and general automation engineering.

Wide-Range Temperature Measurement for Utility and Fluid Systems

HNT20 covers a much broader temperature span than a compact M12 sensor — from –200 °C cryogenic lines to 500 °C high-temperature process points — while keeping the body short enough for panel, cabinet and direct pipe mounting. The DIN 43650 valve connector is the standard in hydraulics, pneumatics and factory instrumentation: it plugs and unplugs by hand, seals to IP65, and mates with the same solenoid-valve and sensor cabling already on your machine.

The 4–20 mA loop drives a PLC analog card directly; the 0–5 V option suits controllers, data loggers and panel meters that expect a voltage signal. Both variants share the same 304/316 stainless probe and stainless body.

Good fit: water supply and distribution, hydraulic power units, pneumatic systems, chiller and cooling circuits, heating and district heating, HVAC plant, factory automation, panel and cabinet instrumentation, gas and liquid dual-use measurement, OEM machinery and test benches.

Is HNT20 Suitable for Your Application?

Choose HNT20 when:

  • Measuring range falls within –200…500 °C — this is the wider-range sibling of the HNT10.

  • The medium is liquid, steam, gas or a fixed surface; gas and liquid dual-use from the same unit.

  • The connection point uses a DIN 43650 (ISO 4400) valve plug, or you want the rugged, hand-pluggable connector style.

  • You need a 4–20 mA (500 Ω load) or 0–5 V analog output on 12…30 VDC — state which on the order.

  • The port takes a British (G) or metric (M) thread, or a chuck; Ø6 probe up to 40 bar, Ø8 probe up to 100 / 200 bar.

  • Mounting space allows the standard cylindrical body; panel, cabinet or direct-pipe mounting all work.

Confirm with us first when the medium is strongly corrosive (use HNT60 PFA/PTFE), temperatures exceed 500 °C (use HNT30 armored thermocouple), you need HART / Modbus / digital bus (use HNT40 smart transmitter), or the area is Ex-rated (use HNT40 Ex d IIC T6).

Why a DIN 43650 Transmitter — Not the Alternatives

The connector your hydraulics already use

DIN 43650 (Hirschmann-style) valve plugs are ubiquitous on solenoid valves, pressure switches and hydraulic instruments. HNT20 uses the same connector, so your machine harness, spare-parts stock and technician muscle memory carry over without new cables or adapters.

4–20 mA or 0–5 V — your choice on the order

Unlike a fixed-output sensor, HNT20 ships as either a current loop (4–20 mA, 500 Ω load) or a voltage output (0–5 V). Pick the one your analog input card expects — no external signal converter needed.

From –200 to 500 °C in one SKU

The Pt100 element covers cryogenic low-temperature service and up to 500 °C process lines in a single product family. You do not need to stock a separate low-temp and high-temp transmitter.

Gas and liquid, same instrument

One part number measures lubrication oil, cooling water, compressed air and heating medium. This reduces spares count on OEM skids and multi-utility plant rooms.

Installation and Configuration

Confirm these four items before ordering:

  1. Process temperature range — write it directly on the order, e.g. –50…150 °C or 0–300 °C.

  2. Output type — 4–20 mA (code M) or 0–5 V (code V05), matching your controller input.

  3. Probe length L and thread standard — verify >5D insertion; specify G (British), M (metric) or K (chuck).

  4. Probe diameter and wetted material — Ø6 (≤40 bar) or Ø8 (100 / 200 bar); 304 or 316 stainless.

Screw the transmitter into the process port with a wrench on the hex — never turn the stainless body or probe. Plug the DIN 43650 connector onto the mating solenoid-valve-style cable gland and tighten the knurled nut by hand. For panel or cabinet mounting, use the hex flats on the body. On power-up, allow 2–3 minutes for the reading to stabilize, then compare against a reference thermometer at a known process temperature.

Outputs and System Integration

  • 4–20 mA (code M): two-wire current loop into a PLC analog input card, max load 500 Ω — noise-immune for long cable runs on the factory floor.

  • 0–5 V (code V05): voltage output for controllers, data loggers, panel meters and DAQ systems that expect a voltage signal.

  • DIN 43650 connector: mates with standard solenoid-valve cable; IP65 seal; hand-pluggable without tools.

For OEM / skid / panel-building enquiries, send us: process medium, temperature range, required output (4–20 mA or 0–5 V), controller input type, thread size and probe length. We will confirm the correct ordering code before quotation.

Typical Applications

Water supply and distribution

Measures water temperature in pump stations, storage tanks and distribution mains where a robust DIN 43650 sensor replaces fragile M12 connectors outdoors.

Hydraulic and lubrication systems

Monitors oil temperature in hydraulic power units, lubrication stations and gearboxes — the valve connector matches the solenoid valves already on the hydraulic manifold.

Cooling and chiller circuits

Measures chilled water and condenser water temperature in chillers, cooling towers and refrigeration plants, from –20 °C glycol loops to 80 °C condenser water.

Heating and HVAC plant

Tracks supply and return water temperature in boilers, district heating substations and air-handling units; 0–5 V output suits building-management systems.

Pneumatic and compressed-air systems

Monitors compressed-air temperature after dryers and filters in compressor stations and pneumatic control panels.

What to Send Us for Selection

Send the following with your enquiry: process medium, expected temperature range, required output (4–20 mA or 0–5 V), controller input type, available thread size, required probe length, and whether 304 or 316 stainless wetted parts are needed. For oil, glycol or mixed-media duties, we may ask for the fluid name and operating temperature before confirming the final order code.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the DIN 43650 connector?

DIN 43650 (also called ISO 4400 or Hirschmann connector) is the standard rectangular industrial valve plug used on solenoid valves, pressure switches and hydraulic instruments. HNT20 uses the same connector, so it mates with existing machine cabling and spare parts.

Can one transmitter measure both gas and liquid?

Yes. The same Pt100 probe works for liquids (water, oil, glycol) and gases (compressed air, steam, nitrogen) within the –200…500 °C range. Just specify the medium and temperature range on the order.

4–20 mA or 0–5 V — which should I choose?

Choose 4–20 mA for long cable runs, noisy factory environments and PLC analog cards (max load 500 Ω). Choose 0–5 V for short runs, controllers, data loggers and panel meters that expect a voltage signal.

How do I select the right probe length for hydraulic oil?

The probe tip must sit in the flowing oil — at least 5× the probe diameter into the pipe or tank. For a hydraulic manifold tapping, 50 mm (L50) is usually sufficient; for large return lines, choose 80 or 100 mm.

Does the DIN 43650 connector make replacement easier?

Yes. Unplug the valve connector, unscrew the old sensor, screw in the new one and plug back in — no terminal screws, no wire labels to reattach. This is why hydraulic and HVAC technicians prefer it over hard-wired heads.
