Electromagnetic flow meter HNF60

HNF60 series intelligent electromagnetic flowmeter consists of two parts: the sensor and the converter, the product is based on Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction work, measuring the conductivity greater than 5 μs/cm of the volume flow of conductive liquids, it is a measurement of the volume flow of electrically conductive media inductance instrument, in addition to measuring the volume flow of conductive liquids in general, but also for the measurement of strong acids, strong alkalis and other strong corrosive liquids and slurries, slurries, Pulp and other uniform liquid-solid two-phase suspended liquid volume flow. But the medium can not contain more ferromagnetic material or air bubbles. Intelligent electromagnetic flowmeter is a high-precision, highly reliable flowmeter. Widely used in petroleum, chemical, metallurgy, textile, paper, environmental protection, food and other industrial sectors and municipal management, water conservancy construction, river dredging and other areas of flow measurement.

HNF60 Electromagnetic Flow Meter for Conductive Liquids

The HNF60 intelligent electromagnetic flow meter (mag meter) consists of a sensor and a converter, working on Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction. It measures the volumetric flow rate of conductive liquids with conductivity above 5 µS/cm, including strong acids and alkalis, as well as uniform liquid-solid two-phase media such as mud, slurry and pulp. With no obstruction or moving parts inside the measuring tube, there is no pressure loss, no wear and long service life. All-digital processing provides strong anti-interference performance and reliable, high-accuracy readings.

Volumetric flow measurement for conductive liquids — no pressure loss, no moving parts

The HNF60 intelligent electromagnetic flow meter is built on Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction and consists of a sensor and a converter. It measures the volumetric flow rate of conductive liquids with conductivity above 5 µS/cm — including strong acids and alkalis, and uniform liquid-solid two-phase media such as mud, slurry and pulp. The medium must not contain large amounts of ferromagnetic substances or bubbles.

Because there are no obstruction components or moving parts inside the measuring tube, there is no pressure loss, no wear and the sensor lasts long. All-digital processing gives strong anti-interference performance and reliable, high-accuracy readings.

Typical applications: conductive liquids, acids and alkalis, slurry and pulp, large-diameter pipelines, where no pressure loss is required, and where 4–20 mA / pulse / HART / RS485 signals feed a PLC or DCS.

Is the HNF60 the right meter for your application?

Choose the HNF60 when the following conditions apply:

  • Liquid conductivity is above 5 µS/cm (deionized water is around 20 µS/cm)

  • Pipe diameter is between DN10 and DN3000

  • Flow velocity ranges from 0.1 to 15 m/s

  • The medium is a conductive liquid, acid, alkali, or uniform slurry / pulp / mud

  • You need 4–20 mA, pulse, HART, RS232 or RS485 output to connect to a control system

  • The site requires Ex d IIC T2–T6 explosion protection or IP65 / IP68 ingress protection

Contact us first if: the medium is non-conductive (oil, pure solvents), the liquid contains large amounts of ferromagnetic particles or bubbles, or the size / temperature falls outside the standard range. Electrode and lining materials must be selected based on medium corrosion, temperature and abrasion.

Why choose an electromagnetic flow meter

No pressure loss — lower energy cost

With no obstruction in the measuring tube, flow passes straight through. In large-diameter municipal water and wastewater networks this significantly reduces pumping energy.

Corrosion- and abrasion-resistant wetted parts

Electrodes are available in platinum, Hastelloy B/C, titanium, 316L or tungsten carbide. Linings include PTFE, chloroprene rubber, F46, polyurethane and PFA — matched to strong acids, alkalis and abrasive slurries.

Bi-directional measurement, unaffected by density or viscosity

The output depends only on average flow velocity — liquid density, viscosity, pressure and temperature do not affect the reading. Bi-directional flow measurement is supported.

Wide diameter range, integrated or remote

From DN10 to DN3000, with integral and split (remote) transmitter versions, plus clamp-on and insertion types for different installation spaces and site conditions.

Installation & Commissioning

Before ordering, please confirm the following four items:

  1. Medium and conductivity — confirm liquid name, corrosivity and whether conductivity is above 5 µS/cm.

  2. Pipe size and flow range — normal operating velocity should fall between 1 and 3 m/s; maximum velocity should not exceed 10 m/s.

  3. Electrode and lining selection — match materials to medium corrosion, temperature and abrasion.

  4. Output and power supply — select 4–20 mA, pulse, HART or RS485 based on PLC / DCS interface requirements, and confirm supply voltage.

Install the sensor on a pipe that is always full, avoiding high points (gas accumulation) and downward-facing legs (empty pipe). Allow ≥ 5× DN upstream and ≥ 2× DN downstream. The sensor must be properly grounded to the pipe — grounding rings or electrodes must be selected based on medium corrosivity. After installation, zero-calibrate under no-flow conditions, then verify readings against actual process conditions.

Outputs & System Integration

  • 4–20 mA: continuous flow signal to PLC, DCS or recorder; short-circuit protected.

  • Pulse 0–1 kHz: for totalized flow measurement or flow switch control.

  • HART: remote configuration and diagnostics via hand-held communicator or host.

  • RS485 / RS232: Modbus RTU communication for SCADA and remote monitoring.

For OEM or project integration inquiries, please also provide: control system input type, required flow units, communication protocol and address, supply voltage, and whether remote (split) mounting is required.

Typical Applications

Municipal water supply & wastewater

DN100–DN2000 mag meters for raw water intake, treated water output and wastewater plant influent / effluent measurement — no pressure loss, handles mixed sludge liquor.

Chemical & acid / alkali service

PTFE / PFA lining with Hastelloy or tantalum electrodes for sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid and caustic process lines.

Pulp & paper

Flow measurement of stock, black liquor and white liquor; rubber lining resists abrasion and electrodes resist build-up.

Mining & slurry service

High-abrasion liquid-solid media such as mineral slurry, tailings and mud — polyurethane lining and tungsten carbide electrodes withstand long-term erosion.

Food & pharmaceutical

Hygienic flanges and PTFE / PFA lining meet cleaning and corrosion-resistance requirements in food, beverage and pharmaceutical processes.

Information Required for Sizing

To confirm the correct HNF60 configuration, please provide: pipe diameter, medium name and conductivity, medium temperature, normal and maximum flow rate, working pressure, required output (4–20 mA / pulse / HART / RS485), power supply, integral or remote mounting, and whether explosion protection is required. In some cases we may request a medium sample or chemical composition list to confirm electrode and lining materials.

FAQ

Which liquids can the mag meter measure?

Any conductive liquid with conductivity above 5 µS/cm, including clean water, wastewater, acid / alkali / salt solutions, mud, slurry and pulp. Non-conductive liquids such as oils and pure solvents are not suitable.

Does an electromagnetic flow meter cause pressure loss?

No. There are no obstruction parts inside the measuring tube; flow passes straight through. Pressure loss is equivalent to a straight pipe of the same length, significantly reducing pumping cost in large-diameter networks.

How do I choose electrodes and lining?

316L is standard for general service. Use Hastelloy or tantalum for strong corrosion, and tungsten carbide for heavy abrasion. For lining, chloroprene or polyurethane is for clean water at room temperature; PTFE or PFA for strong corrosion; PTFE for high temperature.

Can it measure slurry and pulp?

Yes. As long as the medium is a uniform liquid-solid suspension without large ferromagnetic particles or bubbles, the mag meter can measure it. Rubber or polyurethane linings withstand solid particle abrasion.

How much straight pipe is required?

We recommend ≥ 5× DN upstream and ≥ 2× DN downstream. Allow longer straight runs upstream when pumps, valves or reducers are nearby, so that the velocity profile is fully developed.
